Product Description

The ATRIS Umbilical Cord Scissors (10 cm 4") are a must-have for breeders, vets, and anyone assisting with animal births. Made from high-quality surgical stainless steel, they are designed to deliver a clean, accurate cut when it matters most. The broad, flat, curved blades help stop the umbilical cord from sliding, making them dependable and easy to use during time-sensitive situations.

Key Features

  • ATRIS Umbilical Cord Scissors (10 cm 4"): Longer length provides improved reach and better control.
  • Surgical-Grade Stainless Steel: Strong, rust-resistant construction designed for long-term use.
  • Sterile Packaging: Supplied in sterile packaging to ensure safe and hygienic use.
  • Autoclavable: Can be fully sterilised, making them safe for repeated procedures.
  • Wide, Flat Curved Blades: Designed to deliver a precise cut while preventing the cord from slipping.

Delayed Cord Clamping

Delayed cord clamping (DCC) in puppies is often described as a “new-old” practice in dog breeding, and is influenced by advances in human neonatal medicine. It involves waiting for a short period after birth (a few minutes), before clamping and cutting the umbilical cord, rather than doing so immediately. The underlying theory is that the placenta acts as a natural reserve for the newborn, continuing to deliver oxygen-rich blood for a brief time after birth, even as the placenta begins to separate from the uterus.

Additional Information

The ATRIS Umbilical Scissors can be autoclaved and re-used multiple times. Wash thoroughly after use before autoclaving.
