Calcium Gluconate Injection 10ml

In nursing bitches, heavy milk production can lead to hypocalcemia (milk fever) and may result in seizures. Bitches with abnormally low calcium levels often show signs of muscle twitching, loss of appetite, weakness, and listlessness and in severe cases, convulsions or seizures.

Calcium Gluconate Injection is a super-saturated solution containing calcium gluconate 95.3 mg/mL in water for injections. It also contains calcium saccharate 3 mg/mL. Each mL of the injection contains 8.9 mg equivalent to 0.22 mmoles (0.44 mEq) of calcium ions.
Indication: A calcium salt used primarily for the prevention and treatment of calcium deficiency.
Strength: 2.2 millimoles of calcium ions in 10 mL

Calcium Gluconate Injection is a supersaturated solution. Supersaturated solutions are prone to precipitation. Examine the vial and do not use if a precipitate is present.
Calcium gluconate is usually administered intravenously as a 10% solution by slow intravenous injection, or by continuous or intermittent intravenous infusion.
It is not recommended to be given by intramuscular and subcutaneous injection, due to the possibility of tissue necrosis.
During intravenous administration of calcium, close monitoring of serum calcium levels is essential.
