MAVIC Insemination Catheter - Mini, 250 or 400
The development of the MAVIC Vaginal Insemination Catheter was in response to a need to improve the results of vaginal insemination in the dog. The semen deposition using a single linear pipette inadequately transferred the semen to the uterus and created the need to use the classical leg-up method to reduce semen reflux. The MAVIC vaginal insemination catheter was developed by MOFA Global to technically respond to these problems, making breeders’ and veterinarians’ lives easier and the vaginal insemination procedure more effective by mirroring nature. The Mavic Insemination Catheter is available in three sizes
Mavic Mini - (Toy to Small Sized Dogs) 120 mm length, 18 FR diameter, Inflatable 50cc balloon with pilot balloon and luer lock check valve.
Mavic 250 - (Small to Medium Sized Dogs) 250 mm length, 18 FR diameter, Inflatable 50cc balloon with pilot balloon and luer lock check valve.
Mavic 400 - (Medium to Large Sized Dogs) 400 mm length, 36 FR diameter, Inflatable 100cc balloon with pilot balloon and luer lock check valve.
Each Kit contains 1 x Mavic Insemination Catheter and a Semen Safe Syringe.

Mating Facts - During a natural mating, a tie occures with the male penis being locked in the vagina of the female. This tie lasts approximately 10 to 20 minutes and the entire vagina is occupied by the penis, which naturally prevents semen reflux. At the same time the dog’s movements and the dilation of the bulbus glandis of the male stimulate the vagina, inducing contractions which release oxytosin. Concurrently, these events facilitate semen transfer from the cranial vagina where it is deposited to the uterus and oviducts of the female. The Mavic Insemination catheter mimics this process.
